Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has called for a stronger and more structured partnership between the state government and Christian leaders to promote moral renewal, responsible leadership, and sustainable development across the state.

Speaking at the 2026 Church Shift and Holy Spirit Conference held at the International Convention Centre, Awka, Soludo said while government has the constitutional authority to enforce laws and maintain order, it cannot transform the human heart, a responsibility he said rests largely with the church and other moral institutions.

The governor explained that his administration’s Public-Private-Community Partnership (PPCP) development model is built on collaboration, stressing that lasting progress can only be achieved when government, the private sector, communities, and faith-based organizations work together.

He expressed concern over the growing decline in moral values and the increasing pursuit of personal gain at the expense of integrity, urging religious leaders to continue serving as agents of positive change and character development.

According to him, society must return to the enduring values that shaped previous generations in order to secure a better future.

Soludo also reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to partner with churches in promoting what he described as “responsible Christianity” and rebuilding the state’s social fabric through shared values and community engagement.

In his remarks, the convener of the conference, Bishop David Ogbueli, highlighted the importance of collaboration between government and the church, describing their relationship as that of “kings and priests.”

He urged Christian leaders to remain committed to the teachings of Christ by promoting love, integrity, and service as essential pillars for nation-building and societal transformation.
