Easter: Anambra Police Command intensifies security deployments across Anambra

Christians across Anambra State have commenced the Easter celebration with the observance of Good Friday today, April 3, 2026, as the Anambra State Police Command activates the final phase of its security architecture to ensure safety across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc mnips, PhD, stated that Good Friday symbolizes sacrifice, love, and reflection. He urged Ndi Anambra to embrace these virtues in promoting peace, unity, and lawful conduct throughout the festive period.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has intensified deployments to critical locations, including churches, major highways, motor parks, recreational centres, and other public spaces to prevent any security breaches.

The statement further noted that the Police have strengthened confidence-building patrols, intelligence-led operations, and stop-and-search duties aimed at deterring criminal elements and ensuring a swift response to any emerging threats.

CP Orutugu reassured residents and visitors of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, urging the public to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and to support security agencies with timely and useful information on any suspicious movements or activities.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, emphasized that the Command remains resolute in sustaining security and public safety across the state throughout the Easter period.

The Command also wished Ndi Anambra a solemn Good Friday and a peaceful, safe, and hitch-free Easter celebration.
