The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old woman, Anulika Onyeanusia, in connection with an alleged case of child pornography involving the reported sexual abuse of a minor in Onitsha, Anambra State.
The arrest was made on the evening of Thursday, September 10, 2026, following open-source intelligence obtained by the Command concerning a disturbing video trending online, allegedly showing a woman using sex toys on a minor.
The police operation also resulted in the rescue of four children, aged two, three, six and nine years respectively. Sex toys and other items considered relevant to the investigation were recovered from the scene.
Spokesman of Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the suspect is currently in police custody as investigators intensify efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence and determine whether other persons may have been involved.
The husband of the suspect is also being interrogated by the police to establish whether he has any connection with the alleged offence.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, described the alleged act as deeply disturbing and unacceptable, particularly because it involves the alleged exploitation and abuse of children who are incapable of protecting themselves.
The CP directed a thorough and professional investigation into the matter and ordered that the rescued children be given appropriate care and protection.
The Command said its priority extends beyond investigation and prosecution to ensuring the safety, dignity and wellbeing of the children.
It added that it would work with relevant child-protection and support agencies to provide the victims with necessary care, protection, counselling and other support for their recovery.
According to the police, the identities and privacy of the children will be protected throughout the process, while they will be treated with compassion and sensitivity.
The Command also commended vigilante operatives in the area, bloggers and residents whose information assisted the investigation and contributed to the arrest of the suspect.
