Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2027 election, Peter Obi, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, describing the victory as a significant democratic achievement.
Obi, in a statement titled “Osun: When the People Stand, Democracy Wins,” said the people of Osun had spoken “with courage and clarity,” reaffirming their power to choose their leaders.
He commended Adeleke for his commitment to the people and praised Osun youths for what he described as their peaceful defence of their democratic mandate.
According to Obi, the Osun election demonstrated that when citizens protect their votes, “the forces of good can overcome the forces of darkness.”
He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant ahead of the 2027 general elections, participate actively and ensure their votes count.
Obi also called on political actors to prioritise the interests of the people, stressing that elections should be contests of ideas, competence, character and service rather than violence.
He expressed hope that the Osun experience would strengthen public confidence in democracy and inspire Nigerians to work towards a just, secure and prosperous nation.
