Ex-APC chieftain defects to ADC in Anambra

 A former Chief Whip in the  Anambra State House of Assembly for Dunukofia State Constituency, Hon. Lawrence Ezeudu has defected  to the African  Democratic Congress (ADC) at his Umuanugwo Ifitedunu Ward 2. 

Hon. Ezeudu who served as the  Chief Whip  from 2015 – 2022 led no fewer than 1,000 supporters from APC to declare for ADC under the Ward Chairmanship of Hon. Lawrence Akwuba, yesterday .          

Also, Ifitedunu Ward 2 Chairman of Labour Party (LP), Hon. Pius Udenwa, and his PDP followers led by one Jude  joined ADC on the ground that  Ezeudu provides accountable and empathic leadership .            

Declaring for ADC, Hon. Ezeudu hinted that he was compelled to make his choice given the clear direction of the party since the former LP Presidential  candidate in the 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi who formally pitched tent with the party on December 31, 2025.                  

Ezeudu while appreciating the Ward Chairman, Akwuba and his Executive members for welcoming him into the party, assured the delegation of the party led by former Deputy  Governorship  candidate in the last November 8, 2025 election, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu and the State Chairman  of the party, Comrade Patrick Obianyo of loyalty   and solidarity of his supporters who, he hinted, are traditionally given to follow a good leader under the concept of god-fatherism.               

The former lawmaker faulted APC-led government at the Federal level of policy summersaults and unwholesome carry over of 2025 budget for implementation in 2026., concluding that “ADC believes that “a new Nigeria is possible. 

“We are on a journey to rescue Nigeria. etc. In ADC, there’s an  empathy  feeling of hunan worth that we all have an ancestral heritage that  looks at every other human being as having soul., like  Mother Theresa.                        .

“Today is my own pentecost, including all my supporters, because we have been baptised into the ADC. 

“I have never felt a stronger need to join a political party than my entry into the ADC today because it is very  obvious that the APC has failed us, and we need to buckle up to save the country from finally being torpedoed.

“I want to announce that we in the ADC are desperate to change Nigeria, and having taken time to study the configuration of the country, I can tell you that a new Nigeria is still possible. That is why I am joining the ADC to help effect this change, “he said. 

Earlier in his speech, the former Deputy governorship candidate of ADC  in the November 8, 2025  election, Chief Ndubuisi  Nwobu assured  APC,  LP and  PDP members of a level-playing grounds in ADC.                                   

Nwobu who was accompanied by the party’s State  Chairman , Comrade Patrick Obianyo said ADC led by its National  Chairman and former Senate President, David Mark would turn the fortunes of the country positively  through a rescue mission. 

He lamented that the APC government  of President Bola Tinubu has weaponized poverty and made the country unsecured to the point that United States President, Donald Trump has to lend a helping hand. 

He believed  that the joining of ADC coming by Hon. Ezeudu  is a welcome development and mark’s a watershed, advising the former law maker to reach out  to and mobilize both party and non-party members across political parties divide to increase his visibility..
