The Labour Party candidate contesting to represent Bende Federal Constituency in the National Assembly come 2027, Dr Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso has shown his preparedness to make a difference at the Green Chambers with carefully articulated programmes to take his attention.
Anyaso’s entry has added fresh interest to the contest, with his supporters highlighting his background in business, philanthropy, community development and politics as key elements of his political profile.
Dr Anyaso popularly called OFUJI presents his candidacy around the need for a more accessible and development-focused representation for the people of Bende, covering both urban centres and rural communities.
A major part of the agenda is economic empowerment, with emphasis on creating opportunities for unemployed youths, supporting small businesses, traders and artisans, and helping young people acquire vocational and digital skills that can improve their economic prospects.
He takes a critical look at women empowerment projecting it as an important area of intervention, particularly through support for women-owned businesses, petty traders, farmers and other forms of grassroots enterprise.
Agriculture is another area he expects to receive his attention, especially in rural Bende where farming remains an important source of livelihood. The proposed approach includes supporting farmers, improving access to productive opportunities and strengthening the connection between agricultural production and income generation.
Healthcare, no doubt, features prominently in the intervention agenda. Anyaso has previously been associated with medical outreaches and other health-related interventions, while reports on September 16, 2026, said he donated a fully equipped ambulance to support healthcare delivery in Bende.
OFUJI has indicated his acute interest in education with his major focus on scholarships, educational assistance and support for students from less-privileged backgrounds forming part of the community-development activities associated with him and his foundation.
The OFUJI agenda identifies rural development and infrastructure as areas requiring greater attention. Roads, electricity, water, healthcare facilities and other basic amenities remain important issues for communities outside the major urban centres. These are easily achievable because of his cordial relationship with the State Governor, Dr Alex Otti.
Support for vulnerable residents, including widows, elderly people, persons with disabilities and economically disadvantaged families, is equally part of the broader humanitarian and community-development profile associated with Anyaso.
His supporters argue that these interventions demonstrate an understanding of the challenges confronting ordinary people and could provide a foundation for his approach to legislative representation.
Anyaso’s business background is another feature of his political profile. His experience in enterprise and investment has exposed him to issues surrounding employment, wealth creation, entrepreneurship and economic development.
He has also previously participated in the Bende Federal Constituency contest and later served as a governorship running mate in Abia State, giving him experience of electoral politics and the wider political process.
His cordial relationship with Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has also become part of the political conversation surrounding his candidacy. Supporters believe the relationship could provide room for constructive engagement between constituency representation and the state government on development matters.
The 2027 contest, however, will place the records and programmes of all the candidates before the electorate, with voters expected to consider their respective experience, plans, accessibility and capacity to represent the constituency.
For OFUJI, the challenge is to convince the people of Bende that his experience in business, philanthropy and politics can be translated into effective representation at the National Assembly.
The contest is, therefore, shaping up around a broader question of what Bende expects from its next representative, whether in job creation, youth and women empowerment, agriculture, healthcare, education, infrastructure or grassroots development.
As political activities intensify, the OFUJI candidacy has undoubtedly added another strong voice to that conversation.
For the people of Bende, the choice ahead will ultimately come down to the records, programmes, priorities and commitments presented by the various contestants.
The 2027 race has begun to take shape, and with OFUJI now firmly in the picture, Bende is set for a contest in which the demand for effective, accessible and development-oriented representation will remain at the centre of the political debate.
