The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the Dunukofia, Njikoka and Anaocha (DNA) Federal Constituency, Chief Barr. Prince Chukwudi Oli, popularly known as Oba Ezeafia Anaocha, has paid the medical bills of a sickle cell patient, Master Sochima, at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku, Awka.
The intervention followed an appeal by the Director of the Sickle Cell Orphanage and Underprivileged Home, Agulu, Mrs. Aisha Edwards Maduagwu, who said the child was battling severe respiratory complications and urgently required medical care.
Maduagwu said the timely support enabled doctors to continue the boy’s treatment, including oxygen therapy, medications and other essential care.
Oli, who has for years supported children living with sickle cell disorder through scholarships and other humanitarian programmes, said caring for the vulnerable remains a personal commitment.
Residents and stakeholders commended the gesture, describing it as a demonstration of compassionate leadership, and urged individuals, organisations and government agencies to support children living with sickle cell disorder and other vulnerable persons.
