The Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) has commenced the distribution of free statutory administrative and academic records to basic schools across the state, in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s zero-levy policy.

ASUBEB Executive Chairman, Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, said the initiative was designed to remove administrative barriers and ease the financial burden on schools while improving documentation and management.

The records, which include registers, diaries, folders and other essential materials, are being supplied to schools at no cost.

Anyadiegwu said the exercise would also prepare schools for the planned transition from manual to digital record-keeping.

She explained that headteachers, officers-in-charge and zonal directors had recently received training on the use of digital registers ahead of the commencement of systematic migration to digital school records in the next academic session.

Director of Administration, Mrs Florence Chinweze, described effective record-keeping as the backbone of a functional education system, while Secretary of PPSSC, Lady Bernardine Anagor, urged school heads to properly utilise and monitor the records.

Other education stakeholders, including zonal directors, AOPSHON officials and education secretaries, commended the state government and ASUBEB for the initiative.

ASUBEB Consultant, Lady Stella Ezepue, said the provision of the records would reduce administrative costs and strengthen school management, teaching and learning.

She urged headteachers to ensure the materials were properly maintained and regularly updated.
