Youth leaders in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State have honoured the Commissioner representing Enugu State at the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Peter Eze, with an Award of Excellence in Human Empowerment.
The award recognised Eze’s contributions to youth development, human capital growth and community advancement.
The honour was presented by the Convener of Igbo-Eze North Youth Leaders, Hon. Dr. Alih Barnabas, popularly known as Aliban, alongside youth stakeholder Comrade Solomon Chukwudi Onoh (Udo-Oha) and other youth leaders during the Peter Eze Youth Connect 2026, held on September 11 at the International Conference Centre, Enugu.
The event, organised by Eze, had the theme, “Beyond Quotas: Unlocking Opportunities for Enugu Youths Through the Federal Character Commission.”
Speaking after receiving the award, Eze thanked the youth leaders, describing the recognition as particularly significant because it came from his community. He pledged to intensify his efforts towards youth empowerment and the development of Igbo-Eze North.
The programme was aimed at helping young people access information on employment opportunities in federal ministries, departments and agencies, as well as scholarships, skills acquisition programmes and other government initiatives.
Dr. Alih Barnabas commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Eze to represent Enugu State at the FCC, while praising the commissioner for using his position to promote opportunities for youths.
Onoh and the Secretary of Igbo-Eze North Community Youth Leaders, Comrade Abugu Jonas, also praised Eze for his youth engagement and empowerment initiatives.
Earlier, Eze explained that the programme was designed to bridge the information gap between government opportunities and unemployed youths.
He urged participants to rely on accurate information when seeking employment, scholarships and training opportunities, warning that misinformation could be deceptive and damaging.
