KEMAK Foundation for Enhancing Sustainable Livelihood has empowered 90 fresh university graduates with practical knowledge and guidance to help them navigate careers, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and life after university.
The beneficiaries participated in the 8th edition of the Fresh Graduates Career Mentorship Summit held at the Association of Resident Doctors Hall, Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki (AE-FETHA II), Ebonyi State.
Participants were mainly recent graduates of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI) and Ebonyi State University (EBSU), particularly members of the 2025/2026 graduating class.
The summit, themed “Preparation for a Successful Career,” focused on CV writing, employment opportunities, postgraduate scholarships, entrepreneurship, NYSC mobilisation, digital skills and personal development.
Executive Director of KEMAK Foundation, Dr. Makuachukwu Ojide, urged the graduates to present their achievements effectively when preparing CVs rather than merely listing their responsibilities.
He encouraged them to put the knowledge gained at the summit into practice, while pledging the Foundation’s continued mentorship on career and postgraduate scholarship opportunities for the next five years.
An Assistant Director at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Ebonyi State, Dr. Comfort Wilson, advised the graduates to embrace hard work, integrity, resilience and mentorship in building successful careers.
Professor Charles Chikwe Okpala of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, encouraged the participants to consider entrepreneurship as a career option, stressing that entrepreneurs turn problems into opportunities.
Also, Director of Enene Akonjom Foundation, Amb. Mrs. Enene Fonne, urged the graduates to overcome personal and family limitations and pursue their goals with courage and resilience.
NYSC Mobilisation Officer at AE-FUNAI, Comrade Onyebuchi Mpamugo, provided guidance on the NYSC mobilisation process and urged prospective corps members to avoid mistakes that could delay their deployment.
Public relations expert, Mma Ofoma, spoke on public presentation, communication and speaking skills, while the Aptech Ebonyi Team introduced participants to digital skills and technology-based learning opportunities.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to KEMAK Foundation, the speakers and sponsors for providing practical guidance as they prepare to enter the workforce.
A Mass Communication graduate, Evelyn Nduu, described the summit as an opportunity to learn and develop a mindset for career success, while engineering graduate Testimony Onwe said the lectures, interactions and practical experiences provided valuable guidance for starting a career.
Economics graduate Chinedu Julius described the programme as inspiring and said it provided lessons and motivation that would help participants make better career decisions.
The programme was supported by CBN Ebonyi State, Zenik Tech, One Youth Global, Aptech Ebonyi Team and F&T Freeman Petroleum Ltd, among others. Participants also received certificates at the end of the summit.
