The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission(ANSIEC) says it is ready and will conduct the local government elections on Saturday, August 29 as scheduled.
The Electoral body’s Commissioner For publicity, Chinedu Tony Nnalue, who gave the assurance during a press briefing on Wednesday, August 26 said voting will commence at 8am.
Speaking on the level of preparedness for the conduct of the elections, he affirmed that all is set for use poll in all the 21 local government areas and 327 wards in the state.
According to him, All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, is fielding Mayoral and Councillorship candidates for all the elective seats, while the Young Progressives Party, YPP is fielding a Mayoral candidate for Anambra East Council seat.
He assured of its commitment to conducting credible elections, saying every activity of the commission is guided by the provisions of the law and electoral act.
The ANSIEC Commissioner noted that it had commenced distribution of non sensitive materials to various areas, expressing readiness to ensure that its activities are executed according to the laws.
