Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, declaring that he serves as governor for all residents of the state, regardless of their religious or traditional affiliations.
Governor Soludo made the declaration while addressing the Anglican Diocesan Synod held in Ezira, Orumba South Local Government Area.
‘I Govern Everyone, Regardless of Faith’
Expressing gratitude to the people of Anambra for their support during the last gubernatorial election, the Governor emphasized that his mandate transcends religious and sectarian boundaries.
“I am the Governor of all denominations, Christians, Moslems, and traditionalists,” Soludo stated. “Everyone has the freedom of worship in Anambra. We are all one, and we must celebrate our common humanity.”
Reflecting on global developments, the Governor warned against growing divisions and polarization, stressing that humanity faces significant challenges that require unity and collective action.
Warning Against Division and Fragmentation
Governor Soludo urged citizens to prioritize their shared human identity above differences, expressing concern over what he described as increasing fragmentation even within Christendom.
According to him, fostering unity and mutual respect remains critical to building a peaceful and progressive society.
Merit, Not Religion, Drives Appointments
Speaking on his administration’s recruitment and appointment policy, Soludo maintained that competence and performance remain the only criteria for public service appointments.
“For me, it is about the value proposition you bring to the table,” he explained. “Most of the people I have appointed are chosen because they can get the job done.”
The Governor reiterated that meritocracy remains central to his governance philosophy, adding that the state’s development agenda requires capable individuals irrespective of religious, ethnic, or social backgrounds.
“Whoever can get the job done is the person I will hire,” he stressed.
Call for Patience as Development Efforts Continue
Governor Soludo appealed to Ndi Anambra to remain patient and supportive as his administration continues implementing its development programmes across the state.
He assured residents that his government remains focused on delivering sustainable growth and improved living standards for all.
Church Commended for Investment in Education and Health
The Governor also commended the Anglican Church for establishing a new nursing school in Isulo, describing such initiatives as critical contributions to the state’s socio-economic development.
“We are building our own institutions, but I encourage you to invest more in education and health. It can never be enough,” he remarked.
Soludo further advised religious leaders to consider the economic realities facing their congregants, urging them to align development projects with the financial capacity of the people.
Bishop Praises Governor’s Development Strides
Earlier, the Anglican Bishop of Aguata, Samuel Ezeofor, commended Governor Soludo’s developmental efforts across the state.
The bishop also sought additional government support for church initiatives and assured the Governor of the church’s continued prayers for his administration.
The event provided a platform for Governor Soludo to reinforce his message of unity, inclusive leadership, merit-based governance, and collaboration in advancing the socio-economic development of Anambra State.
