Pregnant women and nursing mothers in Anambra State have benefited from a maternal and child health outreach organized by the Rotary Club of Onitsha Metropolis at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Neni.
The programme featured health education, medical counselling, essential drugs, maternal care items and the donation of hospital equipment to improve healthcare services.
President of the club, Rtn. Ezuma Smart Chinedu, said the outreach was part of activities marking Rotary International’s Maternal and Child Health Week and aimed at improving the wellbeing of mothers and children through preventive healthcare and medical support.
He noted that the project was executed in collaboration with 16 Rotary and Rotaract Clubs across Anambra State, thanking healthcare professionals, volunteers, donors and partners for their contributions.
Medical practitioner, Dr. Ahoma Mbanuzuru, also educated participants on antenatal care, safe delivery, exclusive breastfeeding, childhood immunisation, nutrition, hygiene, family planning and disease prevention.
Ezuma reaffirmed the club’s commitment to sustaining humanitarian projects throughout the 2026–2027 Rotary year in line with Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self.”
