The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, says it will soon begin a crackdown on illegal and unlicensed private security operators in the state.
State Commandant Maku Olatunde disclosed this during a meeting with the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN) in Awka.
He warned that some unregistered operators were illegally deploying guards to public and private facilities in violation of the Private Guard Companies Act.
According to him, the NSCDC is responsible for the registration, licensing, regulation, and supervision of private guard companies across the country and will not tolerate activities capable of tarnishing the image of the profession.
Olatunde described private security operators as critical partners in national security, urging them to maintain discipline, professionalism, and compliance with regulations.
He also called on licensed operators to report defaulting companies and work together to strengthen the private security sector in Anambra State.
Chairman of ALPSPN in Anambra, Dr. Okon Antai, commended the NSCDC for organizing the stakeholders’ meeting and pledged the association’s cooperation in promoting professionalism within the industry.
Deputy Commandant Cecelia Okoye-Iheme also urged licensed operators to provide timely intelligence on critical government assets and infrastructure within their areas of operation.
