Mass protest: APGA primary crisis deepens as Oyi stakeholders accuse officials of massive vote manipulation

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State have protested alleged electoral fraud during the party’s primary election, insisting that the declared results did not reflect the wishes of party members.

The aggrieved members accused some government officials of manipulating results in favour of a preferred aspirant despite what they described as clear evidence from the wards.

One of the protesters alleged that only 230 voters were accredited for the Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly primaries, questioning how higher figures later emerged in the final results.

They maintained that the election was peaceful and transparent in several wards, claiming that aspirant Ojike was declared winner at polling units before the results were allegedly altered.

Another stakeholder, Barr. Innocent Kelechi, said the group visited the Government House to seek Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s intervention and restore confidence in the party.

Responding, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Vincent Egbuna Okechi, urged party faithful to remain calm and follow internal party dispute resolution mechanisms.

He also received their petition for onward delivery to the governor.
