The call for equity in Anambra State’s political leadership is gaining momentum as Chief Michael Chukwuemeka Mmekwe has urged political parties to zone the 2030 governorship ticket to Awka North and South Federal Constituency.

Mmekwe argued that the constituency remains the only bloc yet to produce a Governor, explaining that respecting the zoning principle would promote fairness, unity, and balanced development across the state.

He encouraged communities in the area to present credible and competent candidates capable of leading effectively.

He also appealed to Governor Charles Soludo to use his influence within the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and beyond to ensure the zoning arrangement is upheld, noting that such a move would strengthen his legacy of inclusive governance.

While commending the Governor’s strides in infrastructure and economic development, Mmekwe called for more attention to road construction, healthcare improvements, and erosion control in Awka North.

He noted that better infrastructure would unlock the area’s agricultural potential and boost economic activities.

He further highlighted the need to upgrade the General Hospital in Amanuke and address erosion threats affecting the community, describing the 2030 election as a critical opportunity to advance equity and sustainable development in Anambra State.
