The Igbodike Movement has called on the Northern Youths Council to suspend its allegedly planned nationwide protest against the Minister of Works, David Umahi, over the death of a woman identified as Mary Habilla.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Dr. Peter Nwankwo, the group urged the council to allow security agencies and medical personnel to conclude investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident before drawing conclusions.
The movement expressed support for Umahi, describing him as one of the leading performers in President Bola Tinubu’s administration, and cautioned against statements it said could heighten ethnic tensions.
According to the group, no individual or organisation should be held responsible for the death until investigations are completed by the appropriate authorities.
The statement also called on all parties to exercise restraint, avoid inflammatory rhetoric, and allow due process to take its course in the interest of peace and national unity.
