The Anambra State Government says it is working out plans to compensate property owners whose lands will be affected by the proposed 132KVA power transmission line project linking Nnobi, Awka Etiti and Nnewi.
Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Chijioke Ojukwu, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Awka on Wednesday.
He said the project, initiated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), requires a right-of-way for the transmission line.
According to him, affected property owners will be invited for documentation before compensation is processed, after which the government will officially revoke the affected properties through a gazette.
Ojukwu noted that while public infrastructure takes precedence over private interests, the Soludo administration is committed to ensuring fairness and due process.
He urged residents to cooperate with the government, stressing that the project will significantly improve electricity supply to Nnewi and surrounding communities, stimulate economic growth and strengthen Anambra’s position as a business hub.
