Two persons sustained injuries on Saturday after a trailer crashed into three vehicles beneath the Nkpor Bridge along the Onitsha–Awka Expressway in Anambra State.
The accident, which occurred around 1 p.m., involved a Mercedes-Benz truck, two commercial shuttle buses, and an Audi Volkswagen car.
Eyewitnesses said the truck reportedly suffered brake failure, veered off the bridge, and landed on vehicles passing underneath.
Confirming the incident, the Anambra State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno, said six male adults were involved in the crash. Two sustained minor injuries, while four others escaped unhurt.
She attributed the accident to brake failure and noted that no lives were lost. The injured victims were taken to a nearby hospital before FRSC rescue teams arrived at the scene.
Asekhauno said FRSC officials quickly moved to clear the obstruction and restore normal traffic flow. She urged motorists, especially operators of heavy-duty vehicles, to carry out regular maintenance and ensure their braking systems are in good condition before embarking on journeys.
