The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Command, has warned motorists against transporting passengers alongside goods or animals, describing the practice as dangerous and capable of causing severe casualties in the event of a crash.
Sector Commander, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno, gave the warning during the ongoing Operation Total Compliance in the state. Represented by the Officer in Charge of Motor Vehicle Administration, DCC Gloria Ezeugwu, she urged drivers to avoid mixed loading and comply with traffic regulations.
She disclosed that the operation led to the arrest of 121 motorists for 214 traffic offences, including overloading, absence of speed limiting devices, driving without valid licences, dangerous driving, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and attempting to bribe FRSC personnel.
Asekhauno said the nationwide enforcement and public enlightenment campaign is aimed at improving road safety ahead of the ember months and urged motorists to obey traffic laws to protect lives.
