The Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with sister security and safety agencies, has commenced a comprehensive security and safety assessment across strategic locations in the state ahead of the planned visit of high-profile dignitaries.
The exercise, which began on Monday, September 7, 2026, is part of the Command’s proactive and intelligence-led strategy to identify potential security vulnerabilities, validate existing arrangements and strengthen operational readiness before, during and after the visit.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the assessment covers designated venues, major access routes, critical infrastructure and other strategic locations across the state.
He said the exercise is focused on threat identification, intelligence coordination, access and movement control, strategic deployment, traffic management, emergency response capability and protection of lives and property.
The police said the exercise is being conducted in collaboration with relevant security and safety agencies to ensure a seamless and coordinated security architecture throughout the period of the visit.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, mnips, has directed all Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to conduct comprehensive security assessments within their respective Areas of Responsibility and immediately address any identified gaps.
The CP also directed personnel deployed for the assignment to maintain maximum vigilance, operational discipline and professionalism while remaining courteous and responsive to members of the public.
He said that all security operations must be conducted within the ambit of the law and with full respect for fundamental human rights.
The Commissioner assured residents that the Command, working closely with sister security and safety agencies, had put necessary measures in place to ensure a secure, orderly and incident-free environment throughout the visit.
He urged residents, motorists, business owners, community leaders and other stakeholders to cooperate with security personnel, comply with lawful directives and promptly provide credible information on suspicious persons, movements or activities capable of threatening public safety.
The Command said it would sustain a heightened security posture and operational readiness before, during and after the visit.
