Anambra ICT agency champions AI-native vision, sets agenda for next four years

The Managing Director/CEO of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, has reaffirmed plans to position the Agency as Nigeria’s first AI-native ICT institution in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of building a smart and liveable homeland.


Speaking during the Agency’s Second Tenure Team Retreat 2026 themed, “The Next Four Years: Becoming Nigeria’s First AI-Native ICT Agency,” Agbata urged staff to embrace Artificial Intelligence and digital innovation to remain relevant in the evolving technology space.


He stressed that the Agency’s next phase would focus on AI-driven governance, digital service delivery, efficiency, creativity, and faster execution of projects across the state.


The retreat featured strategic sessions led by the Agency’s Chief Technology Officer, Chinonso Okoye, who highlighted how countries like Singapore, Ireland, and Estonia are leveraging AI to improve governance and public services.


Participants also reviewed the Agency’s achievements over the past four years and discussed strategies covering smart government infrastructure, cybersecurity, e-government, digital economy, and human capital development.


Technical Adviser, Sunday Folayan, urged participants to ensure all strategic plans remain SMART — Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound.


The retreat ended with a renewed commitment by staff to deploy smarter and more innovative solutions in advancing Anambra State’s digital transformation agenda.
