Residents of Ngandam village in Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, have been thrown into mourning following the killing of Emeka Agwuncha by suspected cultists.

The victim’s father, Emmanuel Agwuncha, who is blind and amputated, said his son was lured to a compound in Umuru village where he was attacked with machetes and clubs, leading to his death.

He alleged that the attackers later dumped the body at their compound gate.

The incident, which reportedly occurred on the eve of Easter, has been reported to the Nnobi Police Division.

Five suspects have been arrested, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Awka for further investigation.

Agwuncha called on authorities, including Governor Chukwuma Soludo and the Commissioner of Police, to ensure justice is served, stressing that his late son was his main support.

Relatives of the deceased also appealed to the police to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga said he had not been briefed on the case but promised to make inquiries.
