Troops recover missing herder’s body, 32 cattle in Plateau search operation


Security operatives under Operation Safe Haven recover the body of a missing herder and 32 cattle during a search operation in Bassa LGA of Plateau State.


Troops under Operation Safe Haven, in collaboration with local vigilantes, have recovered the body of a missing herder along with 32 cattle during a coordinated search-and-rescue operation in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.


The development was disclosed on Wednesday by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter).


According to the report, the operation was launched following the herder’s disappearance in the Ariri and Kwasha communities on April 13. Security personnel conducted an extensive search across the affected areas, leading to the recovery of the herder’s body.


In the course of the operation, 32 cattle were found alive, while three others were recovered dead.


Authorities confirmed that the remains of the deceased and the recovered livestock have been handed over to leaders of the herding community for further necessary actions.


Security presence in the area has since been strengthened, with increased patrols aimed at preventing further incidents and ensuring peace in the affected communities.
