Social media has been awash in recent time with conversations surrounding the warm reception Fr. Ebube Muonso gave to one of the gubernatorial candidates in the November 8 election in Anambra State.
Some have misinterpreted this gesture, suggesting that the priest is engaging in politics. It is important to clear the air.
Throughout biblical history, righteous leaders have always sought the counsel and prayers of God’s servants. In the Old Testament, we see examples like King Hezekiah (2 Kings 18:1-5), a good and faithful ruler who sought guidance from prophets in order to lead his people in the ways of God.
Similarly, King Josiah, upon discovering the Book of the Law, sought the counsel of the prophetess Huldah (2 Kings 22:1-20), leading to a national reformation.
The Scriptures consistently affirm the authority of God’s messengers. In Numbers 12:6, God Himself says: “When there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD, reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams.”
Likewise, Proverbs 11:14 reminds us: “For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers.”
Seeking spiritual advice is not only wise, but it is also a time-honoured practice deeply rooted in faith.
Fr. Ebube Muonso, the Spiritual Director, Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Anambra State, is a true man of God who welcomes all with the same open heart. His calling is not political. His prayerful wish is that Anambra State, and indeed Nigeria as a whole, will rise into a future of peace, justice, and prosperity. His doors are open to everyone, irrespective of political affiliation, social status, or background.
Fr. Ebube Muonso is a priest for all. He is a man of simplicity, humility, and profound compassion for people. He embodies the spirit of egalitarianism, believing that every human being deserves dignity, respect, and prayerful support.
At this time, instead of spreading fake news, let us recognize and appreciate the prophetic role our priests and spiritual leaders play in guiding the heart of the nation toward righteousness.
