NYSC insists on NERD certificate for mobilization

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reiterated that all Prospective Corps Members must present a compliance certificate from the Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD) before mobilization.

Speaking at the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Pre-Mobilization Workshop in Abuja, the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, said the directive is aimed at strengthening transparency and accountability in the mobilization process.

Nafiu urged Corps Producing Institutions to properly sensitize students and ensure full compliance with the policy.

He also called on regulatory agencies, security bodies, and relevant ministries to support the process through effective policy implementation and enforcement.

According to him, collaboration among stakeholders would ensure a smooth and credible transition for graduates into national service.

Also speaking, NYSC Director of Corps Mobilization, Mrs. Rachel Ideawor, stressed the need for Student Affairs Officers to handle mobilization data with diligence and integrity to avoid discrepancies in records of prospective corps members.

The workshop had representatives from JAMB, NUC, NBTE, the Federal Ministry of Education, NERD, SIDMACH Technologies, and Student Affairs Officers from institutions across the country in attendance.
