Award-winning Nigerian singer Davido has pledged to support the music department of Babcock University with a modern building and standard studio equipment.
During a visit to his alma mater on Sunday, the singer stressed the importance of education, saying it is wrong to describe education as a scam. Davido, who earned a degree in Music from the university in 2015, said completing his studies while managing his fast-rising music career was difficult but worthwhile.
He credited the university for instilling discipline in him and revealed that support from his family and lecturers helped him finish his education despite his busy career.
Davido also encouraged Nigerian youths to believe in themselves, remain dedicated to their talents, and always strive for excellence. According to him, creativity and music have become major drivers of Nigeria’s economy.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Afolarin Ojewole, described Davido as a worthy ambassador of the institution and praised his global achievements in music.
