House of Assembly aspirant for Awka South Constituency II on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Evangelist Chinedu Obue, has alleged attempts by some party members to overturn his victory in the party’s primary election.

Obue appealed to party leaders, including Peter Obi, to intervene and ensure that the outcome of the exercise is respected.
According to him, he secured 625 votes against 73 votes scored by his opponent, Sam Chuks Okpanduka, in the May 29, 2026 primary election held in Awka.

He described the exercise as free, fair and transparent.

The aspirant said he had submitted a petition to the party’s appeal panel, seeking redress over what he described as efforts to alter the outcome of the election.

He urged the party to uphold the will of delegates, warning that any move to reverse the result could affect confidence in the party’s democratic processes.
