The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) foremost aspirant for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Chief Ikenna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Ike Cubana, has intensified efforts to actualise his ambition with the inauguration of a grassroots mobilisation structure.

Chief Iyiegbu on Thursday formally unveiled what he described as the “Radiant Family,” a directorate designed to drive his campaign ahead of the party primaries and the general election.

The inauguration, which took place at his residence in Oba, attracted prominent APGA stakeholders and leaders from Idemili North and South, including the party’s spiritual leader, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka (Ogirisi Igbo); the Mayor of Idemili South Local Government Area, Mrs Amaka Obi; Presidents-General; leaders of the Congress of Councillors from both council areas; as well as youth and women leaders. The stakeholders pledged their commitment to ensure his emergence victorious at the polls.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Iyiegbu said the essence of the meeting was to establish a formidable grassroots structure that would work tirelessly for the success of the project.

“We are inaugurating people of like minds to work towards the actualisation of this project between now and July, when the primary election is likely to hold,” he said.

“This will enable us to build a solid grassroots base that will carry us from the primaries to the main election under the platform of the Radiant Family, ”he added.

In his remarks, Chief Ezeonwuka traced Iyiegbu’s humble beginnings, recalling the respected status of his father, a school principal in Oba community, who gave his children a disciplined upbringing.

He urged party faithful to rally behind the aspirant, expressing confidence that Iyiegbu would deliver quality representation to the people of Idemili based on his background and antecedents.

A member of the party’s Board of Trustees, Ezeonwuka noted that APGA’s performance in Anambra State under successive administrations has strengthened the party’s electoral prospects.

“APGA has done well in Anambra State. From Mr Peter Obi to Dame Virgy Etiaba, Chief Willie Obiano, and now Professor Charles Soludo, the party has continued to move progressively,” he said.

“We are here to support Ikenna, whom I know very well alongside his family background. He will give us quality representation. I urge everyone to support him.”

Symbolically presenting the Ofo, the Igbo symbol of authority, to Iyiegbu, Ezeonwuka offered prayers for his success in the forthcoming contest.

Also speaking, the Mayor of Idemili South LGA, Mrs Amaka Obi, explained the need for massive support for Iyiegbu, describing him as a loyal and committed party man who has paid his dues.

She noted that Iyiegbu served as Chairman of the Campaign Council in Idemili South during Governor Charles Soludo’s re-election bid, adding that his dedication to the party should be rewarded with broad-based support to realise his political aspiration.

Other speakers, including Ichie Chinechendo of Umuoji, Oba youth leader Hon. Ebuka, Leader of Idemili North Council of Councillors, Hon. Anibe Simon, and his Idemili South counterpart, echoed the call for unity and maximum support for Ike Cubana ahead of the 2027 elections.
