The Anambra State Police Command has dismissed as false a viral security alert claiming that a military helicopter dropped unidentified items in a bush located along the boundary between Nimo and Adazi-Nnukwu communities in Anaocha Local Government Area.

The rumour, which spread rapidly across social media platforms, raised concerns among residents and triggered public anxiety over possible security threats in the area.

Reacting promptly to the development, the Police Command deployed operatives to the reported location to verify the claims and assess the security situation.

According to the Command’s Spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, investigations revealed that the area remained calm, with no suspicious objects or activities discovered. Security assessments also showed that residents were going about their normal activities without any sign of disturbance.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, urged residents to disregard the misleading report and refrain from sharing unverified information capable of causing panic and eroding public confidence in the state’s security architecture.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive policing, intelligence-driven operations and close collaboration with other security agencies and community stakeholders to maintain peace and security across the state.

The police boss further encouraged members of the public to verify security-related information through official channels and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or security formation.

The Command assured residents that security operatives would continue routine surveillance across the area and other parts of the state to ensure the safety of lives and property.
