The scheduled Labour Party (LP) Anambra 2025 governorship primary for Saturday, April 5, 2025 will go on as planned, party leadership and aspirant have announced.
This clarification was made late afternoon Friday, April 4, 2025 by top leaders of the party including the Anambra State chairman, Chief Ugochukwu Emeh.
The chairman told journalists, members, supporters, the general public and friends of the LP to disregard any negative report concerning the Saturday scheduled governorship primary of the party.
He said that the event would hold as planned.
He, therefore, urged well-meaning Nigerians, particularly LP members and friends of the party to disregard those he called the misinterpreters of the Supreme Court’s ruling, saying that the Court was very clear and unambiguous. He saw those who see it differently as mischief makers.
He wondered what was unclear about the Court’s position that the decision of the leadership of a political party was an internal choice of the party and its members. Hence that it was not for the Court’s, not even the Supreme Court to decide.
Emeh, therefore, charged members and asked friends of the party to troop out enmasse to the Finnotel Hotel premises in Awka for the primary election to pick the Governorship flag bearer of the party for the Nov 8, 2025 poll.
The front-runner among the Governorship aspirants, Chief George Moghalu in an interview confirmed that all arrangements have reached to their limit for the widely anticipated primary.
He disclosed that he political family had concluded all the necessary arrangements and is now anxiously awaiting the day.
Moghalu expressed high optimism that he had done extensive mobilization and consultations that would see him sweep the stakes riding on the support base of the people.
He, therefore, appealed to all the delegates to vote wisely in his favour, for Anambra, according to him, to embrace an unprecedented era of uplifting and development.
Emeh had confirmed that LP had shown an uncanny form of maturity with only Chiefs Moghalu and John Chuma Nwosu contesting for the ticket of LP.
