The management of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Awka, and FirstPower Electricity Distribution Company have moved to strengthen their partnership, with a renewed focus on improved power supply and enhanced healthcare service delivery.

The commitment was made on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, when a delegation from FirstPower paid a courtesy visit to the hospital as part of activities marking the company’s 2026 Customer Service Week.

The delegation was received on behalf of the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Maureen Uche Umeakuewulu, by the Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (D-CMAC), Dr. Chinenye MaryQueen Uju, alongside other members of the hospital’s management team.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Mrs. Uju Okafor expressed appreciation to COOUTH management for the cordial relationship that has existed between the hospital and FirstPower over the years.

She described COOUTH as one of the company’s valued customers, explaining that this informed the decision to include the hospital in its Customer Service Week engagements.

Okafor assured the hospital of FirstPower’s commitment to improved service delivery and prompt response to its power needs, particularly given its role as a critical healthcare institution.

Responding, Dr. Uju, on behalf of the CMD, thanked the FirstPower team for the visit and for recognising the hospital during the Customer Service Week.

She described the visit as a demonstration of a healthy customer-service provider relationship, while calling for a sustained partnership and improved power supply to enable COOUTH to provide optimal healthcare services to the public.

The visit featured the presentation of souvenirs and group photographs.
