A community leader and human rights advocate, Sir Silas Ikeh, has commended Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, for his efforts to rid the state of fake pastors and fraudulent religious practices.
Speaking with journalists in Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area, Ikeh described the initiative as a welcome step towards restoring integrity and public confidence in the Christian faith.
He said the activities of fake clerics have damaged the image of Christianity and misled many young people into believing that success can be achieved without hard work and perseverance.
While supporting the exercise, Ikeh urged the authorities to ensure it is carried out fairly and professionally, stressing that genuine religious leaders should not be unfairly targeted.
He also called for renewed discussions on state policing as a way of tackling insecurity across the country and urged political leaders to place greater priority on the welfare and safety of citizens.
Ikeh further encouraged Nigerians to remain actively involved in the democratic process and make informed choices during elections.
