Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has praised the integrity, competence and meritorious service of his immediate past Chief of Staff, Chief Ernest Nnaama Ezeajughi, saying his contributions to the state deserve statewide commendation.
Soludo spoke at a grand reception organised by Awgbu Progressive Minds in honour of Ezeajughi, an indigene of Awgbu in Orumba North Local Government Area.
The governor said Ezeajughi “served and served well,” describing him as a competent public servant who distinguished himself through dexterity and exceptional capacity while in office.
According to Soludo, Ezeajughi’s exit was part of the process of constituting a new cabinet and providing opportunities for others to serve. He, however, noted that the former Chief of Staff had completed his tenure with distinction and could attain greater heights with his experience and ideas.
Soludo also commended the people of Awgbu for choosing to celebrate one of their accomplished sons while alive, urging other communities to recognize and appreciate individuals who distinguish themselves in public service.
Ezeajughi had previously served as a Councillor and Mayor of Brent, London, before returning to Anambra to serve as Chief of Staff to Governor Soludo during his first tenure.
The Convener of Awgbu Progressive Minds, Mr. Emeka Owoh, described the reception as a celebration of Ezeajughi’s integrity, transparency, competence and selfless service, saying his record provided a worthy example for younger generations.
Other speakers, including Chief Okey Ezeibe, President-General of Awgbu, Engr. Christian Okoyeudor, Chairman of Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association, Chief Humphrey Anuna, and Chairman of Onitsha Main Market Association, Hon. Chijioke Michael Okpalaugo, also commended Ezeajughi’s leadership qualities and accessibility.
The Mayor of Orumba North, Barrister Casmir Nwafor, described him as a worthy son whose exemplary service had brought honour to Awgbu and the local government.
Responding, Ezeajughi thanked the people of Awgbu for the honour and Governor Soludo for giving him the opportunity to serve.
He pledged to continue making his experience, ideas and goodwill available for the development of Anambra State and beyond.
