Bishop-elect Susan Wallace to lead Dunedin diocese

Bishop-elect Susan Wallace has been appointed as the new Bishop of Dunedin, bringing decades of leadership experience within the Māori Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand & Polynesia.


She has held key governance roles at Te Rūnanganui, Te Rūnanga Whāiti, and Te Hīnota Whānui (General Synod), and chaired the National Kāhui Wāhine Executive Committee for five years. She also spent nine years on the Te Kotahitanga Commission, including six as chair.


Before relocating to Christchurch, Wallace served for 15 years as General Manager of Te Rūnanga o Makaawhio, supporting cultural revitalisation, infrastructure growth, and governance development for her iwi.


She brings extensive experience, strong national relationships, and deep ancestral ties across multiple iwi, positioning her well for episcopal leadership.
