The deputy governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party, YPP, Uzu Okagbue, has said that the biggest threat to the hope of development in Anambra state is that the state cannot attain development while running an 8-hour economy.

Addressing his supporters, yesterday, Okagbue said that under the current Anambra state, the economy runs from 9 am to about 5 pm, and cannot grow as no 8-hour economy can advance towards the expected dimension in any part of the world.
Reiterating his position, the YPP deputy governorship candidate said that the world has swiftly moved to a 24-hour economy, which is why payment systems now run all day, nonstop, so that business operations are not interrupted by artificial roadblocks.
However, for Anambra, according to Okagbue, the road is still far because the state is trapped in all manner of insecurity which he said, has not only completely deleted one full day from the original six active business days, but has also reduced effective business hours to a paltry 8 hours.
Explaining further, Okagbue regretted that people can no longer start their days early enough and can also no longer retire late because of the fear of the unknown.
“No country, and indeed, no society can develop by running an 8-hour economy in just five days. Anambra cannot be the exception,” Uzu Okagbue said.
Okagbue said that YPP government will reverse the trend, and place Anambra where it should belong.
