Anambra Police step up security collaboration, intelligence-led policing


The Anambra State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening security through intelligence-led policing, stakeholder engagement, and community partnerships.

During an operational tour of the South-East on June 16, 2026, the Inspector-General of Police, represented by Deputy Inspector-General Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, met with officers and stakeholders in Anambra to discuss strategies for tackling security challenges in the region.


The DIG emphasized the adoption of practical intelligence-driven operations, technology-based policing, and the future integration of artificial intelligence into investigations.

He also urged officers to uphold professionalism, accountability, respect for human rights, and people-centered policing.


Welcoming the delegation, Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to the Inspector-General’s vision of enhanced community policing and improved security across the state.


The visit also provided a platform for discussions on intelligence sharing, crime prevention, and coordinated responses to emerging security threats in the South-East.
