Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Value Reorientation, Dr. Law Mefor, has advised Political Science students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, to strike a balance between academic pursuits and student activism.

Speaking while receiving executives of the National Association of Political Science Students (NAPSS), led by President Comrade Achor Armstrong, Mefor stressed that students should not allow union activities to negatively affect their academic performance.

According to him, students’ primary responsibility is to prepare for their future careers, noting that academic excellence remains a key determinant of success after graduation.

The commissioner highlighted the Soludo administration’s investments in education and human capital development, citing improvements in students’ performance in public examinations and the state’s free education policy.

Mefor also disclosed that over 260,000 youths in Anambra have received digital skills training, with plans to expand the programme to one million young people.
He further condemned cultism and violence in schools, urging students to embrace constructive leadership, positive values, and skills development.

Earlier, NAPSS President Comrade Achor Armstrong said the association’s conference scheduled for next month would promote political science as a practical discipline and sought the ministry’s support for the event.
