Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2027 elections, Mr Peter Obi, has urged Nigerian youths to reject politics based on tribe, religion and language and support leaders with proven character, competence, integrity and capacity.

Obi made the call while addressing youths of St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral, Nsukka, Enugu State, during the 68th Annual Conference of Anglican Youths.

He said the emergence of a better Nigeria depended not only on the quality of leaders elected but also on the standards citizens demanded from those seeking public office.

“The future of Nigeria depends not only on the leaders the country produces but also on the standards citizens demand from those who seek public office. Together, we can build the New Nigeria that is possible,” he said.

Earlier, the former Anambra State governor visited Faith Foundation College of Nursing Sciences, Nsukka, where he inspected ongoing projects and donated ₦10 million towards their completion.

Obi expressed satisfaction with the progress at the institution and pledged continued support until the college produces its first set of nurses.

He said the intervention was part of his commitment to education and healthcare, particularly the training of qualified healthcare professionals needed to strengthen Nigeria’s health system.

The Proprietor of the college, Rt. Rev. Dr. Aloysius Agbo, thanked Obi for his continued support, saying his previous contributions had helped the institution undertake several ongoing projects.
