The 2027 Anambra Central Senatorial election is beginning to gather momentum, with university lecturers from the seven local government areas of the constituency rallying behind the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Hon. Dozie Nwankwo, popularly known as Onyendozi, in what they described as a youth-driven political revolution.

The lecturers, who gathered on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Enugwu-Ukwu for an interactive session with the senatorial hopeful, declared Nwankwo their preferred candidate following what they described as a thorough assessment of his political credentials, experience and capacity to represent the constituency effectively.

The development signals growing calls for youthful, vibrant and articulate leadership ahead of the 2027 general election, with the group urging voters to make informed choices capable of advancing the interests of the people.

Nwankwo, a ranking member of the National Assembly, had emerged as APGA’s senatorial candidate through the party’s primary election, securing the ticket by a significant margin.

Addressing the gathering, he called on constituents to work together to ensure his victory, insisting that a united electorate would strengthen his ability to deliver effective representation and attract greater benefits to the constituency.

The APGA candidate assured the people that no community would be sidelined under his representation, specifically mentioning Njikoka, Dunukofia, Anaocha, Awka North, Awka South, Idemili North and Idemili South local government areas.

He emphasised that his constituency office would remain accessible to all residents, regardless of their political affiliations or community of origin.

“This constituency office belongs to all of us. And in times of need, each member of the senatorial zone is free to come or call our workers here and be attended to,” Nwankwo assured.

He further disclosed that arrangements had been concluded to keep the office telephone lines open round the clock to ensure effective communication, prompt attention to complaints and improved service delivery to constituents.

Speaking on behalf of the lecturers, Dr Chike Oramalu declared that Nwankwo was their preferred choice for the forthcoming senatorial election, expressing confidence in his prospects at the polls.

Oramalu, a Political Science lecturer at the University of Idaho, United States, said the group arrived at its position after carefully examining the candidates and assessing their suitability for the task ahead.

He urged eligible voters across the seven local government areas to make wise and informed decisions when casting their ballots, stressing the importance of choosing a candidate capable of advancing the collective interests of Anambra Central.

With political activities gradually intensifying ahead of the 2027 election, the lecturers’ endorsement adds another dimension to the emerging contest for the Anambra Central Senatorial District seat.
