The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Anambra State Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the fight against illicit drug trafficking, substance abuse and related crimes.
The State Commander, CN Onubogu Charles Orakwue, gave the assurance while receiving the newly posted Commanding Officer of the 14 Field Engineer Regiment, Onitsha, Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Awudu Enyia, during a familiarisation visit to the NDLEA State Headquarters in Awka.
Orakwue described effective inter-agency collaboration as critical to combating drug-related crimes and other security challenges, stressing that synergy among security agencies remains indispensable in safeguarding lives and property.
He congratulated Lt. Col. Enyia on his recent appointment and assured him of the Command’s readiness to sustain intelligence sharing, joint operations and other collaborative initiatives aimed at ensuring a safer and drug-free Anambra State.
Earlier, Lt. Col. Enyia underscored the importance of sustained cooperation among security agencies in addressing emerging security threats.
He explained that the familiarisation visit was intended to reinforce existing partnerships and create an avenue for discussions on issues of mutual interest towards enhancing peace, security and public safety across the state.
Enyia, who assumed command of the 14 Field Engineer Regiment on July 13, 2026, was accompanied by senior officers of the Regiment.
The visit, according to the Army, was aimed at fostering a seamless working relationship between the Nigerian Army and the NDLEA, while introducing the new Commanding Officer to key security stakeholders in Anambra State.
