Several projects within the period under review have been completed, while others are nearing completion.

More projects are still springing up at various locations in the Council Area so much so that many of the stakeholders have expressed confidence in the administration of the Mayor, Anazodo.

Drainage

The Chairman, Chief Executive Officer of Ibeto Group, Chief Cletus Ibeto was among the distinguished personalities at the Saturday event.

While commissioning one of the projects, a culvert, at Oduda Nnewichi by the new administration to control flood menace, constructed within sixteen days, Chief Ibeto said Hon Anazodo had demonstrated his readiness to make a difference in the local government administration.

Hon Anazodo also took Chief Ibeto to Ukwaka bridge in Umudim already completed which is expected to be commissioned by Governor Soludo soon.

Chief Ibeto said he would continue to support the Council Chairman in any way possible to actualize his dream of taking Nnewi to the next level.

He described Nnewi as a holy land and progressive one where many success stories are told.

“Nnewi people are everywhere and they are doing well. There’s need to develop Nnewi in the spirit of think-home-philisophy. To say that things are difficult in Nigeria, not for an Nnewi man.

“People left their homes during the civil war and ran into the bush but Nnewi people never left our homes. That shows that Nnewi is a great community.

“I support Echezona wholeheartedly in what he is doing to develop Nnewi. He has plans to develop the four quarters of Otolo, Umudim, Uruagu and Nnewichi, Nnewi simultaneously. Nnewi has all it takes to be great.

“The secret of my greatness, riches and progress is that I’m a cheerful giver. And the more you give, the more God blesses you. I’m ready to support this local government administration under the watch of Echezona with my resources for him to succeed.

“All the rumours and financial allegations against him are false. He didn’t do anything, “he said.

Chief Ibeto disclosed that the local government administration under Hon Anazodo’s watch is one hundred percent in cordial relationship with Governor Charles Soludo’s government which the Chairman had earlier confirmed.

In his reaction earlier, Hon Anazodo said his administration has respect for community elders who he said would offer his team the proper direction in times of need.

“I run a transparent government and I’m too young to run a corrupt system. I’m only 40 years now.

“Chief Cletus Ibeto is a father to me, someone who does a lot of things for me without asking for anything in return.

“I’m very grateful that I have a good team. I will not disappoint God, that’s my promise to Him. He made me what I’m today, “he said.

Anazodo promised the Oduda Nnewichi people that he would also reconstruct a stretch of road that links up to the culvert commissioned. He also said his administration would declare zero tolerance to potholes in all Nnewi roads.

“We will touch all the four quarters of Nnewi. Even though we have limited resources to work with, we are determined to put smiles on the faces of our people.

“We’re restructuring a waste management system in Nnewi and we are spending heavily on that to get it right.

“Don’t listen to side talks. Ask your Counselor if you need clarification of any doubt or come straight to the Council headquarters and ask us questions, we will clarify everything to you. Avoid gossips, “he told the people of Nnewichi who gathered in their numbers for the event.

The host community leaders including the President-General of the community, Mr Ikechukwu Obi; former PG, Chief Soge Egbuna and those representing the women took turns to commend Anazodo for the construction of the culvert to save them from flood disaster they had suffered over the years.

The team later moved down to Agbo-Edo market in Nkwo Nnewi where the Council Chairman took Chief Ibeto and other stakeholders round to show them stretches of stalls under construction which would soon be ready for iced-fish dealers and other traders.

There was also ongoing drainage construction in the market for flood control.

Also in the entourage were the President General of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, Hon Jude Osumuoh; Special Adviser to the Chairman on Special Duties, Mr Austin Manuel Jideofor; former Council Chairman of Nnewi North, Hon Amobi Chikwendu, among others.
