Crisis has rocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in Anambra State following allegations of electoral fraud, intimidation, and irregularities during the exercise ahead of the 2027 general elections.

One of the aspirants, Hon. Chimbudike Igboekwe, accused an opponent and alleged winner, KK Ezekwelu, of hijacking result sheets and compiling results in a hotel in Awka instead of conducting proper ward-based voting.

Igboekwe claimed elections did not hold in most wards across the constituency, describing the process as a “daylight robbery” and a violation of democratic principles.

He further alleged that result sheets meant for Idemili North were diverted to Umuoji instead of the designated collation centre in Ogidi, while the returning officer reportedly fled with the materials after angry youths demanded a transparent process.

The aspirant also condemned the alleged deployment of thugs and soldiers during the exercise, vowing to challenge the outcome through party structures and the courts.

Efforts to get official reactions from the Anambra APC leadership were unsuccessful as party officials did not respond to enquiries.
