Hon. Arinzechukwu Awogu has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Ogbaru Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat following a resounding victory at Saturday’s Option A4 primary election.
Awogu, a former Chairman of the Ogbaru Local Government Transition Committee, secured 656 votes to defeat his only opponent, Mrs. Nkechi Isamade, who polled 18 votes.
The primary election, held at Odekpe Primary School in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, was described as peaceful and orderly by the Returning Officer, Obi Ibegbunam, who officially declared Awogu winner of the contest.
Speaking shortly after his emergence, Awogu expressed appreciation to party delegates and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, assuring them that he would justify the mandate given to him.
He urged party members to remain united and intensify efforts towards delivering victory for APC in the January 16 National Assembly election in the constituency.
“I will not take this mandate for granted. Let us work together to deliver Ogbaru for APC,” he said.
Reacting to the outcome of the primary, the APC Chairman in Ogbaru Local Government Area, Hon. Patrick Chukwuma, alongside the Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Agenda in APC Ward 1, Hon. Ifechukwu Aniegboka, expressed optimism over the party’s chances in the forthcoming general election.
According to them, Awogu’s overwhelming victory reflected the wishes of party members and signaled growing support for APC across Ogbaru Federal Constituency.
They maintained that the party remained well-positioned to secure victory at the polls.
