The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election in Anambra State has sparked intense reactions and disagreements among aspirants and party stakeholders, with allegations of violence and missing election materials.
Some aspirants and witnesses alleged that political thugs invaded the APC venue at Otuocha, Anambra East LGA, disrupting the process and allegedly carting away result sheets. Hon. Patrick Udoba, one of the leading aspirants, described the incident as chaotic and called for the immediate cancellation of the election.
In response to claims linking him to the incident, Chief Paul Chukwuma threatened legal action, insisting he had no involvement.
He said he was abroad during the period, having traveled after the burial of his sister in January, and denied any connection to the election or the aspirants.
He also stated that attempts to associate him with electoral violence were false and defamatory, warning that he would take legal steps against those spreading the claims.
Meanwhile, in Idemili Federal Constituency, Barrister Kingsley Ezekwelu reportedly emerged victorious, while rival aspirants Innocent Igboekwe and Chief Epiphany rejected the outcome, citing alleged irregularities and the disappearance of result sheets.
The APC State Chairman, Senator Emma Anosike, said the situation remained unclear as more than half of the results had yet to be received, describing it as premature to draw conclusions.
