Methodist Church mourns Archbishop Biereonwu Livinus Onuagha

The Methodist Church Nigeria has announced the passing of its Archbishop, His Grace, Most Rev. Biereonwu Livinus Onuagha, PhD, who died on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia.


The announcement was made in a statement jointly signed by the Synod Secretary, Very Rev. C. N. Eze, and the Lay President, Bro. Chris Ifeanyi Brown Okoro.


Describing the late cleric as a devoted servant of God whose life was marked by unwavering faith and dedicated Christian service, the church urged members to remain steadfast in their faith while mourning his passing.


The statement read in part:
“With heavy hearts, but with gratitude to God and in the certain hope of the resurrection, we announce to the members of the Diocese the transition to eternal life of our revered father in God, His Grace, Most Rev. B. L. Onuagha, PhD.


“His transition occurred on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia.


“Members of the Diocese are urged to remain strong in their faith and commitment to the Lord as we mourn our father. May his life of faith and legacy of Christian service continue to inspire us through this period and beyond.”


The church further announced that condolence registers have been opened at the Diocesan Headquarters and the Cathedral for members and friends to pay their tributes, adding that details of the funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.


It also called on the faithful to remember the late Archbishop’s family in their prayers.


The statement concluded with a prayer: “May the soul of our Singing Archbishop, Most Rev. B. L. Onuagha, PhD, rest in peace. Amen.”
