2027: NDC aspirants vow accountability for Peter Obi, Back Obi–Kwankwaso alliance

House of Representatives aspirants under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) have warned that any future administration led by Peter Obi would be held strictly accountable if it fails to meet Nigerians’ expectations.

The warning was issued on Friday in Abuja during a press briefing organised by the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM), where participants outlined plans for a stronger opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The event followed reports of Obi and former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso joining the NDC amid ongoing coalition discussions.

Speaking at the briefing, NDC aspirant Nnamdi Iroegbu said any government formed in 2027 would face close scrutiny, insisting lawmakers would not tolerate underperformance.

COPDEM National Youth Leader, Akor Christian Oche, described the emerging Obi–Kwankwaso alliance as a strong political combination capable of uniting the country and addressing long-standing divisions.

Other aspirants said the movement was driven by patriotism and a desire to promote accountability, transparency, and people-focused governance in the next National Assembly.

The group also pledged continued mobilisation for a broad opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.
