Pastor arrested after allegedly raping 13-yr old Church member’s daughter

A routine Sunday service in Okutukutu, Yenagoa, turned dramatic after a woman reported her pastor to the police over alleged sexual abuse of her 13-year-old daughter.

The pastor, (identity withheld) had just shared a testimony when the woman quietly left the church and went straight to the Ekeki Police Division. She later accused him of repeatedly abusing her daughter and allegedly giving the family ₦120,000 to terminate a resulting pregnancy.

The teenager reportedly disclosed the abuse after missing her menstrual cycle, prompting her mother to confront the pastor and his wife.

According to sources, the family was pressured to remain silent and accept a settlement.

Police later moved to arrest the pastor at the church, but he initially fled before eventually surrendering. His wife was taken into custody.

The Bayelsa State Police Command confirmed the case has been transferred to the State CID Gender Unit for investigation. Authorities say inquiries are ongoing.

The incident has sparked outrage in the community, with residents and advocacy groups calling for justice and stronger protection for children against abuse.
