The Anambra State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with separate cases of alleged murder and child abuse, while commending residents for providing timely information that aided the investigations.
Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said one suspect, Ifechukwu Okechukwu, 33, is being investigated over the alleged murder and secret burial of his 23-year-old girlfriend in Nkpor.
The case was uncovered following information supplied by concerned residents.
In a separate incident, three suspects — Chukwudi Chukwuyere, 40, Chisom Chukwuyere, 30, and Arum Goodluck, 16 — were arrested over the alleged abuse of a 10-year-old boy in Odume Layout, Isiowulu.
According to the police, one of the suspects confessed to using burning plastic to inflict injuries on the child.
The victim has since received medical attention and support.
Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring offenders are brought to justice.
He urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by reporting suspicious activities and criminal conduct.
