Police raid cult hotspot in Anambra, arrest eight suspects


The Anambra State Police Command has arrested eight suspects during a raid on a suspected cult hotspot in Eze-Allah, Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area.


Operatives of the Special Anti-Cult Unit carried out the operation on April 16, 2026, following credible intelligence. During the raid, police recovered quantities of suspected cannabis and other illicit substances.


Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, identified the suspects as Chidalu Nwafor (27), Chiemerie Nwazueje (24), Chima Arwuike (25), Jideobi Emeka (26), Oliver Okonkwo (18), Izuchukwu Christian (18), Onyebuchi (21), and Walter Idouzour (44).


The command linked rising criminal activities to drug abuse and emphasized the need for sustained enforcement and community support. The suspects are under investigation and will be charged in court upon completion.


Police reassured residents of continued efforts to maintain security across the state.
